Environmental Program Coordinator – Wildsight

The Environmental Program Coordinator is a summer position that will have the opportunity to both support and lead programs, under supervision from the Wildsight Invermere team which includes two Program Managers. The Environmental Program Coordinator will be responsible for one core project – the Bike Valet Program, as well as supporting other summer programming.
Skills
- A strong environmental ethic and interest in climate change and conservation-related issues
- Considerable knowledge and understanding of computers and standard programs such as Microsoft Office suite, as well as social media (Facebook, Instagram)
- Social media content creation and promotion, graphic design skills an asset
- Experience with planning community events
- Detail-oriented, organized
- Comfortable with community outreach and education on environmental issues (able to maintain a positive attitude in the face of challenging conversations!)
- Local knowledge and relationships with community members and organizations an asset
- Self-motivated and ability to work independently, as well as in collaboration with team members
Requirements
- Applicants must be between 15 and 30 years of age at the beginning of the employment period.
- Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the employment
- Have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations
Job Details
- 30 hours per week
- Wage will range between $22 – $25 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications
- Employment term will be 9 paid weeks and will run from approximately mid-June to mid-August, with flexibility on start date and time off
- While some work may be done remotely, in-person work is required and the successful candidate must reside in the Columbia Valley (Invermere or surrounding area) for the term of employment. While accommodation is not provided, Wildsight may be able to offer assistance.
