Youth Leadership Opportunities
Opportunities taking place inside the Columbia Basin:
Columbia River Field School
An immersive two-week canoe trip and learning adventure, the Columbia River Field School invites 16 local youth aged 15-18 to travel by canoe while exploring important aspects of the riverβs story.
Go Wild!
Go Wild challenges youth ages 14-18 on six-day wilderness backpacking trips into the spectacular Kootenay backcountry. Go Wild trips develop leadership skills, connect participants to our landscape and inspires a love of the mountains to last a lifetime.
Junior Outdoor Youth Leadership Program
Participants ages 13-14 will have the opportunity to shadow camp staff and assist with the leadership of games, free time activities and campfire programs to help develop their leadership skills and style.
Outdoor Youth Leaders C.I.T. Program
For Teens 15-18 year old wishing to be a Camp Counsellor. Two weeks of exciting outdoor leadership activities, back-country training, get certified with HIGH FIVE Principals of Healthy Childhood Development and become a part of a tightly knit team of outdoor enthusiasts! Embark on a three-day wilderness expedition where your team works together to plan, pack, cook and navigate your way through the back-country.
Youth Leadership Development Workshops
Our customized Leadership Workshops encourage participants to personally challenge themselves. Our setting exposes youth to new activities, skills and adventure that foster growth and leadership. Our staff are experts in leading activities that build trust, communication and set the tone for strong team-building.
Winter Outdoor Youth Leadership Program
During this seven-day wilderness adventure, participants ages 14-18 will develop outdoor survival and leadership skills, work with their team to navigate the back country, survive the elements and test new skills on an off-site winter camping trip. Participants will learn how to trip plan, navigate, build a shelter, manage risk in the back country while ultimately developing their leadership skills.
Bugaboos Teen Climbing Camp
Teens from the Columbia and Kootenay valleys have realize the satisfaction of self propelled sport and discovered the thrill of mountaineering in the world famous Bugaboo Provincial Park.
A Leadership Journey: The First Steps
This workshop teaches youth about different leadership styles, public speaking and gives them tips for how to create meaningful change in their community.
Go Wild! Youth for Conservation
A 5 day leadership day camp that provides the opportunity to learn and experience the outdoors in a safe and supportive atmosphere.

Wild Outside
WILD Outside is a national conservation-based youth leadership program designed for youth ages 15 to 18. By participating in this immersive program, young Canadians will experience opportunities for personal growth while developing and encouraging their own βconservation ethic.β
Natural Leaders Alliance of Canada
A growing youth-led initiative that recognizes the importance of both spending time outdoors and reconnecting Canadian youth to nature and the development of youth leadership.
Parliamentary Internship for the Environment
The GreenPAC Parliamentary Internship for the Environment, with support from the Sustainability Network, offers young leaders (aged 18-30) the chance to gain invaluable training and experience from Canadaβs top environmental champions on Parliament Hill.
United Nations Association in Canada Green Corps
Green Corps participants will undertake four or six-month work-integrated learning placements with various companies, governments, associations, universities and civil society organizations across Canada.
