CBEEN supports Roslyn Johnson in attending Interpreter Course.
CBEEN member Roslyn Johnson received a professional development bursary to attend the Interpretive Guides Association ‘Apprentice Interpreter’ and ‘Group Management’ courses this May. Roslyn reflected that “In the Apprentice Interpreter course we learned how to create compelling and interesting stories out of facts. How to structure these stories and how to deliver them to an audience so they can relate to them and learn about the natural world. We also gained a broader understanding of the ecology, biology, geology, history and management of our mountain parks and the Canadian Rockies in general.”
She recommends that CBEEN members check out the following resources:
- The professional interpreter handbook: https://interpretiveguides.
org/courses/handbooks-for- interpreters/ - Ben Gadds Handbook to the Canadian Rockies: http://www.bengadd.com/BenGaddBooks.htm
CBEEN is supporting one of our members, Amy Flexman, in bringing these courses to Revelstoke on June 25-28. For more information go to https://cbeen.ca/workshops/.
CBEEN will also be hosting the Apprentice Interpreter Course at our fall gathering in Kimberley. More information here: https://cbeen.ca/workshops/
