Environmental Program Coordinator – Invermere Wildsight

The Environmental Program Coordinator is a summer position that will have the opportunity to both support and lead programs, under supervision from the Wildsight Invermere team which includes two Program Managers. The Environmental Program Coordinator will be responsible for one core project – the Bike Valet Program, as well as supporting other summer programming.

Duties

1. Bike Valet Program: Launched in 2025, Wildsight Invermere’s Bike Valet program offers accessible bike parking options at the extremely popular Invermere Farmers Market, empowering the community with low-carbon transportation alternatives when they visit the market. Results from 2025 showed strong community uptake and support for this program and, as such, Wildsight Invermere intends to continue the program into 2026 and beyond. With guidance and support from the Program Manager, the Environmental Program Coordinator will be responsible for:

  • Weekly coordination of volunteers to staff the Bike Valet
  • Staffing the Bike Valet themselves, on occasion or as needed
  • General oversight and coordination of the Bike Valet program, in collaboration with relevant community partners and the Farmers Market
  • Logistics and operational aspects of the program such as organizing equipment, supplies, etc.
  • Working collaboratively with the Program Managers to develop relevant communications resources or content
  • Collection and management of data to support program evaluation and impact measurement

2. Columbia Valley SHIFT: support the newly launched CV SHIFT climate action program, focusing on two core themes of waste & emissions reduction. Responsibilities may include:

  • Lead implementation of the Party Kit rental program, with support from Program Managers
  • Research feasibility of additional reusable foodware program needs & opportunities in the Columbia Valley, and bring forward options for possible implementation
  • Support development of future CV Shift program areas in collaboration with Program Manager, including workshops, education activities, and asset mapping for a possible digital directory

3. Other: in addition to the above projects, the Wildsight Invermere team will seek opportunities to involve the Environmental Program Coordinator in other tasks and responsibilities that will support their professional development, which may include:

  • Support organization of events and community outreach opportunities
  • Supporting communications activities such as e-blasts or social media
  • Attending external meetings or events with relevant community partners to advance Wildsight’s work on conservation and climate action initiatives
  • Various administrative tasks such as data management and organization, content creation, software optimization, etc.
  • Program evaluation work
