Coyote Learning Model in Revelstoke
On October 25, 42 educators gathered in Revelstoke for the Coyote Mentoring Workshop. This was hosted by the Revelstoke Local Chapter of EEPSA with support from CBEEN.
Despite wet and story weather, educators were filled with smiles and new activities and ideas. This workshop gave educators an excellent framework for teaching environmental education. It showed educators how to get kids to build curiosity and the love of nature through interactions in the natural world.
The facilitator, Dave Verhulst of Nature’s Tracks Forest Play, provided the group with lots of hands on and practical activities. However, the best part was the background of why certain activities were done at certain times. Actually doing the activities in an outdoor setting added to our understanding of how things were structured using the Coyote model.
