2015 Celebration of Environmental Education
Our 2015 Celebration of Environmental Education in Rossland was a great success! CBEEN partnered with the Rossland Society for Environmental Action (RSEA) to host 65 environmental educators, community leaders, elected officials and representatives from funding agencies. This was a great opportunity for these guests to learn, share and connect with each other to help advance environmental stewardship and sustainability across the region through environmental education.
As part of this event, we hosted an Environmental Education Expo, which 8 organizations participated in. We also offered three organizations the opportunity to feature some of their environmental education programs and initiatives – the Central Kootenay Invasive Species Society (CKISS), WildsafeBC and the Fish and Wildlife Compensation Program (FWCP).
At this event we presented our 2015 Awards of Environmental Education Excellence, going to Juliet Craig of the Kootenay Community Bat Project, Ally Candy of the Groundswell Network Society, Monica Nissen of Wildsight, BC Hydro and Rocky Mountain School District #6. Photos and information on the award recipients can be found by clicking here.
Thanks so much to the Fish & Wildlife Compensation Program, Kootenay Savings Credit Union, and Columbia Basin Trust for their support!
