Workshop inspires Dirty Teaching
On August 21 the East Kootenay Environmental Educators (EKEEPSA) hosted outdoor education guru Juliet Robertson with support from CBEEN’s Workshop Bursary Program funded by Columbia Basin Trust.
Juliet is one of Scotland’s leading education consultants who specialises in outdoor learning and play. She works at a national level delivering training, giving keynote speeches, leading and supporting innovative outdoor projects and writing content for websites, documents and case studies. She is passionate about enabling schools, play organisations and early years settings to provide quality outdoor learning and play opportunities for children and young people. Juliet also works at an international level providing inspiring and engaging presentations and training everywhere.
Juliet was able to share practical, usable, place based education strategies under the umbrella of Math and Literacy. The workshop engaged 50 educators, both community and public school based, that work with children infant to high school. In addition to on-site place based professional development, participants have access to Juliet’s extensive online resources (streamlined and personalized to these particular workshops) that can continue to support and inspire as they implement the anchor activities, and expand and re-imagine place based learning in each of their own locations.
