Shanoon holds a Bsc in Earth Sciences and has been working in environmental education since the early 80’s as a Park Naturalist in Alberta and BC Parks. She joined with CBEEN as a Wild Voices for Kids Community Educator since the very inception in 2009. It was at this time that she transferred the programs she was offering through her own business, Huckleberry Adventures, to the WVFK programs. Her passion for the earth shows through her programs that are all about being outdoors in all seasons including class adventures in the fall and spring to explore habitat and native plants. In the winter snowshoe adventures teach students not only to track animals but also to appreciate how they survive in the frozen climate. Shanoon brings not only her passionate knowledge but even the snowshoes! Shanoon’s love and knowledge of the outdoors spreads to her many students. She loves to inspire, engage, connect, and motivate students to discover and explore their wild local bioregions, to develop curiosity, knowledge, awareness and appreciation of where they live.
