About the Program
Students will walk to Wildflower Park to search for wildflowers in bloom. We will take a close look at the orchids and other flowering plants blooms and observe pollination in action. Students will participate in role playing activities to learn how flowers work, and their importance to ecosystem function. Students will:
- participate in a journaling activity where they draw and describe a flower;
- learn to identify a few local wild flowers;
- learn to identify and manage invasive flowering plants.

About the Community Educator
Joan is a steadfast nature lover and avid birder who loves to share her passion and knowledge with young people. In addition to her work as an educator, Joan has been engaged in environmental conservation as a volunteer for Wildsight Golden since it's inception in 1989.
