About the Program
The school yard is a great place to begin exploring the tools and techniques used in inquiry learning. Students will have the opportunity to see their school yard as a microcosm of the world with varieties of life, both plant and animal, and the amazing interactions between all life, including us!

This program is about stimulating students to take a closer look at the immediate world around them to see relationships and also giving teachers the tools, including assessment tools, that make outdoor inquiry fun for all. Techniques for managing "recess syndrome" and stimulating students to see all of the world, including their school yard, as an opportunity to ask questions and build their relationships with the natural world.

Curriculum Connections include:
-Skills can be developed through play
-Through listening and speaking, we connect with others and share our world
-Curiosity and wonder lead us to new discoveries about ourselves and the world around us
-Plants and animals have observable features
-Living things have features and behaviours that help them survive in the environment
-Daily and seasonal changes affect all living things
-Living things have life cycles adapted to their environment
-Observable patterns and cycles occur in the local sky and landscape
