This school year, the first 200 teachers to become CBEEN members were guaranteed one complimentary program! If you have an active CBEEN teacher membership from the fall, you can still redeem your complimentary program with bussing reimbursement up to $250.

At the present time, we are no longer distributing complimentary programs for new members, however, all programs are available for booking at the subsidized rates listed.

About the Program
Getting to know our forests and the various services they provide people. Students will learn how to identify the major tree species, understory plants, fungi and animals. Students will go on an interpretive field trip to gain hands-on experience identifying various organisms, and learn how ecosystems are classified. Examples of some classroom activities could include dissection of owl pellets to examine their diets, collecting and identifying fish and aquatic insects from local streams, working with keys to identify plant and fungal specimens.

About the Community Educator
Tyson Ehlers works as an ecologist in the Slocan Valley with a background in Forestry.  Tyson has always been interested in nature and all it provides, not just the timber, but all of the values we derive from forests.  He enjoys the thrill of hunting for wild mushrooms, as they are a perfect excuse for a walk in the woods.
